City Meet Results and the Week Ahead
Shark Families -
I could not be more proud of this team! Our kids are tough, resilient and excellent sports. We had 109 best times, new state qualifiers, and several new team records. Thanks to our parents for keeping our swimmers fed, encouraged and transported. Thanks to our awesome coaches this weekend - Katie Johnson, Quinn Reyes and Sara Gerhardt for all the passion, expertise and patience. And thanks to our amazing board who does a lot behind the scenes to keep this team on track. The SCCA Sharks is a special team to be a part of!
City Meet Results
Attached are the overall results. The Sharks secured the second overall place in the league, which I was very proud of. There are a lot of great teams and we showed a true team effort in all things we did.
- Congrats to our new state qualifiers: Finley Gerhardt (100 Free), Rome Hill (50 Free, 100 Free, 50 Back), Sebastian Petit (50 Breast), and Zoe Koblenz (100 Back)
- Congrats to our new Shark Team Record Holders: Hamilton Birdsall (50 Breast - old record set in 2003), and Zoe Koblenz (100 Free)
- We had several records that were set this summer and then lowered again at this meet by the same swimmers. See our updated Sharks Records attached!
City Park Pool Party
Celebrate our amazing season tonight at City Park Pool from 6:15-8:15 PM. Swimmers and immediate family are welcome. We will have cupcakes and enjoy a pool where you can't swim laps!
Last Chance Time Trials on Monday
We will have time trials for swimmers on Monday morning for swimmers who are close to state (~1 second away in a 50 or ~2 seconds away in a 100). Warm-ups are at 7:30 and we will start the time trials at 8:00 am. If your swimmer is within the range and wants to swim one event, have them show up. Other team members and parents are welcome to come cheer, help time, and support the racers.
End of Regular Season
This week our swimmers who are practicing at state will be practicing. These practices are for the state swimmers only. The State Team will represent the Sharks in Denver next weekend.
Ribbons Pick-up Wednesday - Thursday
We will have the ribbon boxes out from Wednesday-Thursday at SCCA. Our City Meet ribbons will be filed by then. We encourage you to stop by the pool between 7-8:15 to check your folder. If that doesn't work with your schedule, we will leave the boxes at the Guard Shack for the following weekend.
Thanks again for your support. It is a true joy and honor to coach this team. I will send one last email next week with an update on how the Sharks State Team did.
Go Sharks!
