Week #2 at a Glance

Hello Shark Families,

It was a great first week and we're looking forward to a big week ahead!  Here are your updates for the coming week.

Week at a Glance

  • SUNDAY - Entries and Volunteering for next Saturday's Meet are open in Swimtopia
  • MONDAY - Regular practices. Please have all swimmers bring labeled fins to       practice.  They should plan on bringing them each practice from then on.
  • TUESDAY - Regular practices.
  • WEDNESDAY - Regular practices.  Entries for Saturday meet due by noon in Swimtopia.
  • THURSDAY - Shark-tacular Relays for all Sharks from 8:00-9:30.  This is a fun team-bonding event in place of regular practices.
  • FRIDAY - Regular Practices.  Team gear will be distributed at practices.
  • SATURDAY - Away Meet: Nelson Farm, Village Green, Loveland Lakers

Saturday, 6/13 Swim Meet

  • Our meet on Saturday will be at Nelson Farm Pool (1771 Norwood Lane, Fort Collins, CO).  The meet will begin at 8 AM.  Warm-ups for SCCA are at 7:00 AM.  Anticipated ending time is 1:00 PM.
  • Swimmers get to choose their individual events for meets.  They can select their events in Swimtopia.  Due to this being a large meet and time constraints for the host pool, swimmers are limited to 2 individual events.  (All other meets swimmers will be allowed 3 events).  Newer swimmers will be encouraged to pick shorter freestyle and backstroke events, although they can chose what they want.
  • The coach will make relays.  In Swimtopia, swimmers can indicate they are available for which relays or not available.  There is one relay at the start of the meet and one towards the end.
  • Please have your entries complete in Swimtopia by noon on Wednesday.  Completing your entries on time really helps your coaches!
  • New Families may have lots of questions so please ask another parent, coach or send an email.  There will be more details about this meet shared out at the end of this week.

Volunteering Shifts

  • Most of our volunteering shifts are for our home meets.  There are a few for away meets.  Parents will be able to sign up for shifts in Swimtopia.  Events and volunteering are opened on Sundays when this email goes out.

Swimming Rules of the Week - Two Hand Touch

Our rule for the week will focus on 2 hand touches for butterfly and breaststroke.  You can learn more on our League Disqualification Themes and this brief video.

We will be working each day with our swimmers to help prepare for our first meet.  There will be focus on technique, endurance and speed while having fun along the way.  If you or your swimmer have questions, please ask a coach at practice or send us an email.

Thanks for your support.  Go Sharks!
