Team Strategy:

Our goal is and will always be for swimmers to have fun and become better swimmers.  Some icing on the cake is that the Sharks are in the mix to come out as City Champions again!  Here is a little background info that helps to understand the big picture:

  • SCCA, Huntington Hills, Nelson Farm and Westfield waves all have approximately the same amount of swimmers and events.
  • The top 12 events score as follows starting at first place:  16, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.  Relays are worth DOUBLE the points.  Every point counts, not just the top 3 places!
  • Some of the sharks are swimming in different than normal events or in relays that may be a bit different.  Part of this is looking at overall team strategy and what could give swimmers a great experience and add to our overall team scoring.
  • Please see the attached reports on this email our Swimtopia for entry reports and relay reports.

City Meet fees and Swimathon donations due by Thursday

You can bring cash or check to practice or use Paypal.  Please make a note in Paypal if money is for swimathon or City Meet.  City Meet fees are $4 to $4 per individual event.

End of Season Awards!

We will celebrate a great season of swimming on Sunday night, July 24 at SCCA starting at 7:30pm.  Please RSVP on Swimtopia so we know how many rootbeer floats to provide.  If you are bringing family members not listed in Swimtopia, just make a note in the notes section telling us how many.

Thanks for your support!  Go Sharks!

Additional Logisitics from Host Team Nelson Farm are below:

1. Parking Rules: No one is allowed to park on NORWOOD or in our parking lot. This area will be for designated only for Nelson Farm volunteers, Kona Ice, and our officials. We will have 2 accessible handicap spots in the parking lot. You may park along Centennial Dr, Parklake Dr and Lochwood. The police have been informed of our meets and plan to drive through this area several times each day. Do not block anyone's driveway, park near fire hydrants, or park too close to stop signs/intersections.

2. Volunteers: All volunteers need to sign in at the side table near the Computer Area. They will also need to find their name tag. Please sign in before 7:30AM whether you are volunteering in either shift 1 or 2 on each day. All volunteers will get either verbal instruction on expectations or an instruction sheet. First shift volunteers will go straight to work at 7:30AM. Second shift volunteers will be told when to return and where.

3. We will provide 3 heat sheets (not a program) to each team's coaches on Friday. Those heat sheets will cover both days. We will not be able to print additional heat sheets on Saturday so please do not lose your heat sheets.

4. There will be a coaches' meeting each morning in the Hospitality area at 7:30am. Only coaches and officials are allowed in this area (Baby Pool).

5. Timer Info: Based on the estimated times we are making some minor changes to the timer schedule to better balance the two shifts. On Friday, the 1st shift will work through breaststroke (event #30). On Saturday, the 1st shift will work through butterfly (event #72). We have also decided to have two separate timer meetings instead of one early meeting as the meet packet states.

Day 1, 1st shift timer meeting: 7:40 AM

Day 1, 2nd shift timer meeting: 10:50 AM

Day 2, 1st shift timer meeting: 7:40 AM

Day 2, 2nd shift timer meeting: 10:35 AM

This means there will be a short break between events 30 and 31 and between events 72 and 73.

6. Pre-ordered merchandise and Programs will be available for pick up the morning of Friday. They will be located next to the Concessions table, sorted by team name. There will be a limited number of Programs available for purchase during the meets, but no additional merchandise will be available.

7. Tent set up info: You can set up inside the pool area as long as it's not already taped off. You are also allowed to set up on the front lawn and around the fence. The back gate will be open, and we will have many speakers so everyone can hear updates. DO NOT set up your tents on the bike path, as that needs to stay open to the public, and the tennis courts are off limits.

8. We will provide concessions, including Consuelo's Burritos. We will accept cash or credit cards.

Thank you everyone!! If you have any specific questions before Friday, let me know.
